CBD 101 - What is CBD?
The endocannabinoid system is a newly discovered major bodily system. It is made of receptors that span the entire body. Our body internally creates cannabinoids, which fit into the system’s receptors.
When our body is cannabinoid deficient, we can supplement with phytocannabindoids, a.k.a. cannabinoids made from a plant.
CBD oil is created using phytocannabinoids from hemp. It supplements our system and restores balance and health.
Hemp plants must have less than 0.3% THC, which means that hemp-derived CBD oil will not cause any psychoactive effects.
We want to not only provide the highest-quality CBD products on the market, but also to give you all the information we have so you are educated and knowledgeable.
CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol – a molecule found in the cannabis plant that lacks the intoxicating and addictive effects associated with other cannabis compounds such as Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Due to this, it is legal in the U.S. and used by many people to promote overall wellness.
Cannabinoids are active compounds produced by all cannabis plants. They account for most of the benefits of cannabis. Cannabinoids found in plants are technically called phytocannabinoids, while cannabinoids produced by the human body are called endocannabinoids. Cannabinoids interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which promotes homeostasis.
CBD’s effects are a result of its interaction with the endocannabinoid system. CBD impacts the ECS indirectly, most often through activation of outside receptors and interaction with enzymes.
Hemp seed oil is distinct from CBD oil. While CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant’s flowers, hemp seed oil is produced by pressing the plant’s seeds. Hemp seed oil is similar to other seed oils such as corn oil and sesame oil. Hemp seed oil has its own benefits, but it does not contain cannabinoids such as CBD.
There are no known incidences of illness caused by consumption of CBD oil. All Whole Organix products go through rigorous testing by third-party labs to assure purity and accurate concentrations of cannabinoids.
Hemp and marijuana are both types of cannabis. Marijuana contains a cannabinoid known as THC, which causes a high and is known as a drug. Hemp contains negligible amounts of THC and is unlikely to cause a high.
Many people use CBD to support the body’s natural systems. Cannabinoids are an integral part of the human body’s ability to regulate and balance a wide variety of physiological systems. CBD is also used by some for specific purposes such as supporting a good night’s rest or maintaining well-functioning joints.

Medical cannabis is another term for medical marijuana. Marijuana contains THC, which is a cannabinoid that causes a high. Medical cannabis can cause severe impairments. CBD is not psychotropic, meaning that it does not cause a high. It can be used while working, driving or undertaking any other physical activities such as exercise and sports.
Full spectrum CBD oil refers to CBD oil products that contain a combination of cannabinoids, terpenes and other beneficial compounds found in hemp. Each of the compounds has particular effects on the human body. Because terpenes can affect how the body responds to cannabinoids, the combined effect is often greater than the sum of the individual effects. The overall effect produced is known as the entourage effect.
Full spectrum oil may contain trace THC that is present in the hemp plant. Legally, though, this amount of THC must always be less than 0.3%. Whole Organix full spectrum CBD products are below this threshold, as shown in the lab reports.
CBD isolate is a pure isolated cannabidiol molecule with plant material removed.
Terpenes are a class of volatile hydrocarbon compounds produced in the flower clusters of the cannabis plant. Terpenes are what give cannabis its distinct aromas and have been utilized by humans for millennia in aromatherapy. Terpenes are recognized as safe for human consumption by the Food and Drug Association and are used in a wide variety of food and cosmetic products.
A CBD tincture is a preparation made from CBD extract. It is used orally (swallowed) and can also be used in cooking or baking. Whole Organix tinctures are simply a mix of an oil – coconut oil or olive oil – and CBD.
CBD is non-toxic. We have never heard of anyone overdosing on CBD. However, extremely large servings of CBD may cause drowsiness.
Whole Organix offers a range of CBD concentrations in each product. Our labels are designed for transparency on how much CBD is in a container, and also per serving. Refer to the product label for exact concentrations of CBD in each product.
The ideal serving size of CBD for each person depends on a wide range of variables, such as age, body weight, metabolism, your sensitivity to CBD. It also depends on the product. Servings of 5 to 50 milligrams per day are commonly reported for health maintenance and minor issues.
CBD is not known to have any negative side effects. However, large servings of CBD may cause drowsiness. If your intention is to remain alert, this may be considered an unwanted side effect and therefore large servings should be avoided.
No. Unlike marijuana and THC, CBD is non-psychotropic and is extremely unlikely to cause a high.
Under normal circumstances, our products are not expected to produce a positive result for THC consumption through testing conducted using industry-standard sophisticated testing methods. Whole Organix cannot, and does not, represent or warrant as to the results that any individual may experience, and advises you to consider the risks of incorrect detection prior to use of this product.
We recommend either refrigerating CBD products or storing them in a cool place. Always keep CBD products in airtight containers and store them away from direct sunlight and heat, which can degrade certain compounds in CBD oil.
CBD itself does not have an expiration date. However, CBD oil products can degrade and should be used within a certain period of time. They should be stored in airtight containers either in the refrigerator or in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Refer to the product expiration dates printed on the bottom of the container.
Much more research needs to be done in this area. If you are taking prescription medications, consult with a qualified medical professional.
It depends on how you take your CBD. CBD oils are commonly consumed sublingually. This part of the mouth readily absorbs CBD straight into your bloodstream, with users reporting nearly immediate results. Topical application with CBD creams and gels can take longer as the CBD is absorbed by the pores in your skin.
Most of the effects of CBD are subtle and build up an effect over time. For this reason, it is recommended to add CBD to a daily health regimen. As we are all unique, individual results will vary.
